Step One: Turn off the water supply to the toilet by turning off the closet stop or toilet stop which is near the base of the toilet. Step Two: Drain the cistern by continuously flushing the toilet until all the water is removed. You may need a sponge because it is likely there will be a very small amount of water remaining in the cistern no matter how many times you flush. Step Three: You will need to disconnect the cistern by using an adjustable wrench to disconnect the toilet stop nut. Then disconnect the cistern from the toilet bowl by removing the bolts that are found on the inside of the cistern at the bottom. Start turning the nut under the cistern with your wrench until you are capable of removing it entirely. Repeat the process on all the bolts. Step Four: Installation of the Douglas valve. You will need to cautiously align the Douglas valve assembly and gently push it through the hole. Then you will turn the locking ring hand until it is tight to guarantee you have a good seal. You may require pliers to tighten the seal. Once the assembly is through the hole, place the cistern seal into place which is located on the ballcock. Tighten the locking nut. Step Five: Installation of Ballcock Assembly. There are a number of pieces to install but start off with the bolts and then slide on a seal. Then start completing the outside seals by squeezing the rubber seals onto bolts. Slide the washers on and lock them with thinner nuts and then hand tighten them. Step Six: Position the toilet cistern back onto the top of the bowl and make sure you tighten all the nuts so the cistern doesn’t wobble. Then turn the water supply back on and flush the toilet to see if there are any leaks. If all is good, then you can start flushing more until the cistern is full.
